Kong Tower #51: Dawn of…Something?

Kong Tower #51: Dawn of…Something? published on 1 Comment on Kong Tower #51: Dawn of…Something?

This may be the closest I’ll ever get to writing a Two Gamers on a Couch comic.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is out today! Yaaaaaaay! From what I’ve read as of yesterday, the fans love it and the critics aren’t so fond, but I look forward to seeing it for myself.

I’ve added a new character so I have parodies of all of DC’s Trinity in the film. You may have noticed her silhouette in the new banner. She’s something of a two-part parody, first, naturally, of Wonder Woman. But, since I’m not likely to be better than that other webcomic parody of Wonder Woman, I’ve also made her a parody of the general trend in many comics of drawing women with utterly outlandish physical proportions; specifically the art of the infamous Rob Liefeld. If you’re not familiar with the art of Rob Liefeld, click this link to have your spiritual innocence violated.

You can still see a colored version of Kong Tower #1 by voting for Kong Tower on Top Web Comics:

Boy, that is one drab mental hospital bedroom.

That’s right people, Kong Tower is now in Living Color! Look at that quality.

Not only are my new comics now in color, I’m going back and colorizing the old ones! The ones in this timeline will remain black and white, but I’ll be putting up the colored ones as voting incentives on Top Web Comics once per week. So, for the next week, when you vote, you should be able to see Kong Tower #1 in color! (Sorry, no more Star Wars poster) If you have trouble seeing it, try a different device. (I almost considered starting a Patreon, y’know like everyone has, and putting up the colored comics as rewards there, but lets be honest, who the hell is gonna pay me for any of this crap?)

Vote for #1 in Color!

Were I a true San Franciscan I’d probably have slipped a football reference into the 49th comic. Eh.

This is the last bit of overly in-depth zombie analysis for a while. Some changes coming to Kong Tower next week. I won’t say anything more, you’ll just have to wait and see.

Remember, you can vote every day to see a big, full-color image of a bunch of characters from this comic recreating the poster for Star Wars!

This one’s a few hours late. Sorry about that. I’ve been waiting to do this joke since I first came up with the storyline idea. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

I wish I’d realized it was International Women’s Day. Feel like kind of a dick for not giving the only female character in this comic any lines. Or a face. I’ll do better next year.

Hey look, I’ve figured out how this works!

So Click and Vote!

Everyone has something that they just do, habitually, whenever they’re bored. Some people might carry a book of sudoku puzzles. Others listen to music. And some just space out entirely. I, on the other hand, vastly overthink the (pseudo)scientific nature of pop-culture concepts. I’ve learned that I can justify almost anything with a bit of pseudoscience and a liberal misunderstanding of quantum mechanics. It’s a gift and a curse, really.

It’s a new month, so you have a whole new set of chances to Vote for Kong Tower, and support my dangerous overthinking habit.

Has anyone ever said “Not to be pedantic…” and actually meant it?

Dammit, I meant “Cerebrovorous” not “cephalovorous,” that’s also mixing greek and latin. I should really learn to script these out before I go to the computer.

Vote for Kong Towerit’s good for your BRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIINNNSSS!

Hopefully with this we’ll be getting back on track with weekly updates.

Honestly, I just liked the idea of my Jason Todd-esque character just flat out being a zombie.

Vote for Kong Tower to see more Zombie detectives and antiheroes. Also any of the other stuff in this comic you like.

As I mentioned in lieu of a comic on Tuesday, the computer on which I do all my photoshopping has crapped out, leaving me without a readily available way to shade, color, or even scan a comic. But I couldn’t pass up the chance to make a Deadpool comic, so you get one with just lines, no value, hand-written text, which I essentially just photographed with my hand-me-down phone and messed with the color on, but which has far above my usual level of gratuitous violence to make up for that.

Yes, my Deadpool Ersatz is a heavy-set young woman. But anyone who knows about Deadpool will tell you this is hardly a stretch as far as alternate versions of Deadpool go. I didn’t really conceive of her character as a version of Deadpool, but as I was reviewing my roster of planned characters, I realized she was close enough to work for this. She’s snarky, and has an impressive healing factor (which actually stems from her ability to convert one type of bodily cell into another, allowing her to turn her plentiful body fat into super-dense muscle), and she’s one of the wackier characters I’ve come up with.

Everybody enjoy Deadpool this weekend. Me, I’ll be seeing it on Sunday because I’m a pathetic loser who can’t get a date and this movie and the free admit slip I got from when I saw a fire-alarm interrupted Jurassic World is my consolation prize from the Universe.

Vote for Kong Towerand share this on your various social medias, and maybe this comic’ll get popular enough that ladies will flock to me! That could totally happen, right? Right guys?

I realize that Rob McCobb, Zombie P.I. is probably a concept worthy of its own comic, but for the time being I’m shoehorning it into this one.

This is a new storyline that’s going to take up the next several strips, and then more at an undetermined later time. I really like this character and I’ve been planing on using him since the beginning. If you don’t get the pun in the name McCobb, try saying it out loud.

Vote for Kong Towerbecause a vote for me is a vote for Zombie private detectives.

[EDIT]: My sincerest apologies, but due to the computer I do my photoshopping on breaking down, there will be nothing new on Tuesday the 9th. I’ll definitely try to get something out on Friday for Deadpool, though. Somehow. Of some sort of quality.

Kong Tower #42: Life, the Universe, and References

I struggled with an idea for a space themed comic for #42 (reference 1 of many), and the idea for a Green Lantern based arc (reference 2) that I had planned for later, when I get around to making these in color, came to mind, but I couldn’t quite get my head around it until I heard the tragic news about David Bowie (reference 3). The end result was this pop-culture-reference laden, artistically expansive comic that I have to say I’m fairly happy with.

Major Tom will return, at a later time, with all the awesome fighting that’s about to happen having occurred off-screen.

[EDIT]: Nothing new for the 26th, I have work and school is starting up and I really need to at least try to build up a buffer.

Vote for Kong Tower, or I may just give up on this before that time comes! *does the dramatic back-of-hand-to-forehead-while-looking-away thing whatever that is*
