Kong Tower #72: Task Force WhY

Had to get that Bruce Timm-style hourglass figure for my Harley Quinn Expy. (10 internet points to anyone who can figure out where I got the inspiration for her hat and the symbol on her shirt)

I realize this argument probably doesn’t work for the actual characters in Suicide Squad, but I found it funny. Enjoy the movie, everyone, looks pretty damn awesome to me!

Note: the button below will take you to the screen to Vote for Kong Tower and see Kong Tower #20: With Great Powers Come Dating Problems in full color. It will not make people of any moral alignments’ heads blow off. But you should click it anyway.

And that’s more or less the whole of Tim’s origin story. Uncle died, got powers, tried heroing, got horrifically injured because that’s what happens when a teenager who can bend a spoon interrupts a drug deal expecting Superman.

Hey look, now you can follow Kong Tower on Comic Rocket! And, in case you don’t know about Comic Rocket, you can also vote for, probably all of the other webcomics you enjoy there!

Don’t forget to vote on Top Web Comics to support Kong Tower and to see #20: With Great Powers Come Dating Problems colorized!

Kong Tower #70: The Truth is In Here…Somewhere…II

Kong Tower #70: The Truth is In Here…Somewhere…II published on 3 Comments on Kong Tower #70: The Truth is In Here…Somewhere…II

I am a young man. Young enough that, when I was in my infancy, and for some time after, my parents were fans of The X-Files. In fact, when I was a baby, they would put me in one of those bouncy seat things in the living room with them so that they could watch it. I blame a lot of my personality on this fact.

This comic is, obviously to anyone who’s a fan of The X-Files, a reference to Gillian Anderson’s infamous pregnancy during much of the first and second seasons of the show. This pregnancy, and the difficulties of filming with it, is the direct cause of many of the major developments of those seasons, and setting the groundwork for the plot of the remaining five. It’s also the cause behind her character’s fairly iconic bulky trench coats.

The point that I’m trying to get across here in this rant is that…I’ve just made a joke that’s been out of date for, roughly, my entire lifetime. Now that’s the kind of comedy you can only find here at Kong Tower. Which is why you should vote for it on Top Web Comics, as well as to see Kong Tower #18: My Spider Social Anxiety is Tingling! remastered in full color. Go ahead. Click the button there.

[EDIT]: Sorry, but no new comic on Tuesday, July 26, because of reasons. Mostly I just got caught up with other things and need the time to build up a buffer anyway. I have however updated the voting incentive to the colorized Kong Tower #19: Introducing, the Cool Quartet! So there’s that.

Kong Tower #69: Not Mad, Just Disappointed Science

Kong Tower #69: Not Mad, Just Disappointed Science published on No Comments on Kong Tower #69: Not Mad, Just Disappointed Science

Mad Science gets a bad rap, if you ask me. It could solve so many of the world’s problems.

To be technical, the weapon that policeman is using isn’t simply a freeze-ray, which could itself be extremely lethal. Rather it’s more of a high-powered squirt gun, filled with a dense inorganic fluid designed to crystalize in a hexagonal pattern, much like water, but to expand when frozen at a much more dramatic rate, which has a melting point of about 8 degrees celsius, thus coating its target in low-density “ice” when its spray intersects with the freeze-ray that’s also mounted on the firearm. The ice-goo squirter is really what distinguishes it from just being a laser that gives you hypothermia.

Vote for Kong Tower! Comic #17: Hero from the G(Olden) Age (which I’m really glad is the last comic that I didn’t already draw a cell-shading sheet for) is now up in FULL COLOR as an incentive! Click the banner to vote and see!

I missed Necroma. She’s fun to draw and has a nice coat.

#16: Clark-Kenting to the Max in full color is gonna be up a bit late, but it should be up as the incentive later today. I don’t really have an excuse, I’m just lazy. Vote Anyway!

Kong Tower #67: Power Envy

Steve kindly agreed to stand just out of frame in this comic so I wouldn’t have to draw another full figure.

I think that second panel is my most successful attempt yet at making Aya look ‘Anime’. Might be the hair.

Those are one of the 140 foot Nazi-Mecha’s feet Sergeant Omega is holding up one handed and freezing/lasering, just to be clear.

Kong Tower #66: All Bets are Off published on 2 Comments on Kong Tower #66: All Bets are Off

I considered having Aya do that stupid Anime faceplant thing in the last panel, but 1) it might look weird, like Tim and April knocked her over or something, and 2) she’s wearing a skirt and I don’t do cheesecake in this comic.

Here’s the comic without the foreground, because I like how that flaming car came out and you can’t see it because of the characters. Stupid characters! Why can’t you be as awesome as a flaming car falling from the sky?! (flaming car art inspired by this page of The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, in which the characters are as awesome as a flaming car falling from the sky)

If you’re thinking “Mulder and Scully didn’t look like that!” it might be because you haven’t seen this early promotional image that comes up on Netflix and which my dad finds hilarious. It might also be because Gillian Anderson’s jawline is IMPOSSIBLE TO DRAW RIGHT FOR SOME REASON. Duchovny? Duchovny’s easy: tiny eyes, bulbous nose, absurd chin; you’re done. But Anderson? You can never get the cheek right without her looking weird or old or something. There’s at lest one other webcomic artist who agrees with me on this. Go ahead, google up some images and try it.

Vote for Me! Kong Tower #12: Required Secondary Powers Required II in full color should be up as an incentive!

Peregrine can run fast in his apartment cause he buys high-traction flooring.

I just missed these guys’ faces honestly. Also I’d had this idea for a while and wanted to make it before we got too far into he ‘day’ and also the comic I had planned for today was pretty complicated and it got to be Monday afternoon and I hadn’t penciled it yet. This one was simpler.

Coincidentally, the colorized Kong Tower #11: Required Secondary Powers Required, in which these two both first had lines, is the current voting incentive. Click the banner and see how much shittier (if less repetitious) my art was back then!
