Kong Tower #138: Super Parents

Kong Tower #138: Super Parents published on 2 Comments on Kong Tower #138: Super Parents

This one’ll be up in black and white until later in the day. This is the only thing I do and I’m still constantly on a razor’s edge with it. [[UPDATE]] IN COLOR NOW! Really like how it turned out, actually.

Hey first on-screen appearance of Steve’s mom, Mambo Doubye, AKA Angeline Toussaint, first mentioned in the comic Steve was introduced in. She’s got a fun costume, I enjoyed designing it.

You can encourage me to be better about it by voting with the button below, or better yet, send me some money with the “Donate” button up on the banner.

These people are exceedingly casual about the whole Secret Identity thing. Then again, there is a wizard somewhere in the same room who wipes memories for a living.

Sorry I was late today, everyone, I am on break but things are busy and I am a master procrastinator.

Vote, vote, votey votey vote! You’ll get to see comic 40 in complete color!

My God could it be?! A comic with only minimal copy-pasting!! Call the presses!

So this has been a pretty shitty week, huh? Convenient that I had a whole comic about retaining the hope to fight against impressive (and oppressive) forces already scripted. I hope you all make it through the difficult times to come, and want you to know that I will stand with you in whatever way I can. We may not have superpowers, but that doesn’t mean we have to succumb to the malevolent Nazis in real life. (MAN I wish that were a euphemism)

The barrel-of-monkeys-Rang thrown by MM smacked the Nazi super-gun out of his hand while cutting his palm, in case that’s not clear. I couldn’t get a speed effect to look quite right.

I considered having Aya do that stupid Anime faceplant thing in the last panel, but 1) it might look weird, like Tim and April knocked her over or something, and 2) she’s wearing a skirt and I don’t do cheesecake in this comic.

Here’s the comic without the foreground, because I like how that flaming car came out and you can’t see it because of the characters. Stupid characters! Why can’t you be as awesome as a flaming car falling from the sky?! (flaming car art inspired by this page of The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, in which the characters are as awesome as a flaming car falling from the sky)

This comic goes out to anyone and everyone who actually understood the art references in it. Also anyone who got the sci-fi reference in the last panel.

I don’t even have an excuse for skipping last week. I procrastinated, mostly by reading stupid horror stories on the internet. But hey, my first comic of the New Year! Yaaaaaaaay!

If you’ve payed any attention to this comic you should’ve figured that that guy would have shown up right after a comment like “He While E. Coyote’d me!”

Speaking of comments, feel free to leave one! It’ll be a nice treat for me to have something other than spambot comments to delete. I’d appreciate your input!

Kong Tower Interlude: Happy Pride to Everyone!

A very promptly drawn semi-comic to celebrate the historic Supreme Court ruling and the upcoming celebration.  Because you really can’t live in San Francisco and not be happy about this. Congrats to everyone out there across the country who can finally be with the person they love. Here’s a comic that probably makes fun of you.

If anyone’s offended by this, I’m probably less sorry than I should be (though I admit I’m not overly proud of “The Dyke,” probably should have spelled it with an “i”). Page inspired a little by this Cracked article, mostly by the fact that I’ve wanted to use this stupid joke since long before I even came up with the premise for this comic.

For those curious, their powers are, respectively: Weather control; Waterbending; claws/super strength/healing factor; Pyrokinesis/flight; and Flight/light manipulation.

Seriously, can you imagine if that sort of thing just happened in real life? Turtlenecks that are somehow simultaneously snug and too long?!

On another note, I’ve just recently realized how many other webcomics there are in this same theme, such as SpinneretteThe Non-Adventures of Wonderella, and League of Super Redundant Heroes. Which really leaves me with two options: I can strive for as much individuality and wit in my own writing as possible, hoping to distinguish myself from my peers… Or I can steal from those guys until I fear a lawsuit, then keep stealing. Decisions, decisions…
